Gena Neumann, Homage to Comfort-Life in Quarantine

Mixed-media, 42 x 37 x 22 in., 2020

During this unprecedented time in quarantine we are all nervous and in need of security. We’ve retreated to our “Safe Places,” which often involves food in a big way. Made entirely from food packaging, this sculpture represents our choices and our need for nostalgia. We find comfort in food, faith, supplements, “Drinks at 5 with Andy,” and the almighty, coveted TP. This is a time of reset and rest. A time that will be recorded in history. A time we can give ourselves leeway to just center ourselves and be in the moment. “We are all in this together!”
