Hunter Ewen, I Can't Stop Thinking About It

Acrylic and ink on liquid, 16 x 10 1/2 in., 2020

This is what I see when I try to think about anything besides the pandemic. I can't get images of slightly repulsive, biological blobs of COVID-19 out of my mind. This work was borne from my need to transfer these thoughts into physical form—in the hope that doing so would help me to let go of them. This piece was created by spitting and drooling blobs of acrylic paint and ink onto a viscous, water-based solution. As the paint hits the liquid "canvas," it slowly spreads out, pushing against the other paint while also maintaining its distance from everything around it.
