Blending collage, narrative, and improvisation, pianist Gabe Evens and poet Chris Mattingly create compositions that illuminate the human condition. Monk Moon is a lyric collage poem about the bewilderment of a pandemic turned into ordinary dailiness. As Chris recites the words, Gabe improvises at the piano and hands type away at an old Remington typewriter, ultimately affirming what we've always known: every new day is still an opportunity for our best possible lives.
